    Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our car body repair and spraying services

Every repair follows the same disciplined sequence: full damage inspection and quote, masking and removal of trim where needed, panel beating or filler work to restore the original contour, primer and guide-coat sanding for a perfectly flat surface, computerised paint mixing to the manufacturer's code, base coat, clear coat, and a low-bake oven cure. We finish with machine polishing so the repaired area matches the rest of the car in both colour and gloss.

We start from the manufacturer paint code (usually on the VIN plate or door shut). That code goes into our paint-mixing system, but modern paint fades and varies between batches, so we always spray test cards and compare them to the car under daylight and shop lighting before mixing the final batch. For tricky shades we tint the formula by eye to match the panel exactly.

Blending is where we fade the new paint out into the adjacent panel(s) instead of stopping at the panel edge. It hides any tiny shade or metallic-flake difference, so the repair is invisible. We blend into adjacent panels on metallic, pearl and tri-coat finishes as standard, on faded or older solid colours, and almost always when repairing plastic bumpers next to a wing or quarter panel. Solid-colour panel-only repairs on newer cars usually don't need it.

Slightly, yes. Metallic and pearl paints contain aluminium flake or mica pigment that has to lie in a specific orientation to reflect light correctly. To avoid a visible shade difference we have to blend into the adjacent panels, which adds materials and labour. We'll always explain this clearly in your quote.

Minor dent and scratch repairs are usually 2-3 working days. Single-panel respray jobs are 3-5 days. Multi-panel collision repairs take 1-2 weeks depending on parts availability and the amount of preparation needed. We give you a firm timeframe at the quote stage and keep you updated throughout.

Dents are worked back and the panel straightened, then filled, flatted and primed before the panel is resprayed and colour-matched. We don't offer paintless dent removal (PDR) — every dent we take on is repaired and refinished as a full panel, which gives a consistent, invisible result rather than a patch.

Absolutely. Light scratches that haven't gone through the clear coat can usually be machine-polished out. Deeper scratches and stone chips need flatting, primer and a localised respray. We can also touch in larger areas of stone chipping on bonnets without respraying the whole panel.

Yes — cracks, splits, scuffs and deep scratches on plastic bumpers can be plastic-welded, filled, primed and resprayed back to original condition. Plastic substrates need a flex additive in the paint and we almost always blend into adjoining panels for a perfect colour match.

No — alloy wheel refurbishment isn't a service we offer. We focus on body panels, paintwork and accident repair. If your wheels need doing we're happy to point you towards a local wheel specialist.

Yes — we work with all major UK insurers and handle the claim end-to-end. We'll liaise with your insurer, agree the repair scope and engineer's report, and get you back on the road with minimum hassle. We also do private (non-insurance) repairs at competitive rates.

We can usually arrange a courtesy car for insurance jobs and longer private repairs subject to availability — just ask when you book in and we'll let you know what's free.

All paint and bodywork is covered by a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship for as long as you own the vehicle. The repair is carried out to manufacturer specifications using premium 2K paint systems and finished in our low-bake oven for a durable, lasting result.

That's our goal on every job. With correct colour matching, blending where needed, and a properly cured clear coat, a professional repair should be indistinguishable from the surrounding paint — even on metallic finishes. If you can spot the repair, it's not finished.

No — we don't carry out ADAS (radar/camera) calibration in-house. If your repair involves a component that needs ADAS calibration, we'll co-ordinate with a specialist to make sure everything is signed off before you collect the car.
